ARE OUR PRODUCTS ORGANIC?

Many of you have wondered if our products are “USDA Certified Organic”. The resounding answer is “Yes”. Every product we sell is not only organic, but it is certified by us to be free of lead, pesticides, and herbicides (like glyphosate). So why isn’t the USDA Certified Organic logo on your product packages? The reason is that the USDA changed its requirements. Now, to use the "USDA Certified Organic" logo on our products, we must obtain a "Processor/Handler" certification. Although our turmeric products are USDA Certified Organic, we are working diligently to obtain certification as an Organic Processor/Handler Facility. Once that is completed, we will be authorized to use the USDA "Certified Organic" Logo.

The certification involves two steps: submitting a detailed application for approval, followed by an on-site survey. This process is resource-intensive, but we are committed to completing it.

In the meantime, we've voluntarily removed the USDA logo from our products. Rest assured, nothing has changed— we maintain the same high standards. We continue to test for heavy metals, pesticides, and herbicides, including glyphosates, with results available upon request. I believe that 95% of the turmeric products sold on major online websites that display the USDA Logo are not in compliance with the new regulation. Most of them are not even aware that it exists. But because turmeric is our business and our life, we wanted to do the right thing.

I agree with what the USDA is doing because, frankly, the USDA Organic Certification program for years has not been as strong as it should have been and was not providing the protection that we thought it was. One of the problems was that, while turmeric could be certified organic at the farm level, it remained vulnerable to contamination during shipping or the addition of adulterants later in the supply chain. The USDA's new requirements for "Processor/Handler" certification aims to close this gap by ensuring that all handling, processing, and distribution steps meet strict organic standards to preserve product purity.
